NYSE Energy Momentum List: ERF, CPE, SSL, CLR, MUR

Following are the major movers in the oil & gas sector over the past trading sessions. Keep an eye on these stocks as momentum is strong.

Enerplus Corporation (NYSE:ERF) stock has seen solid buying interest over the past quarter with a gain of over 90% and leading the top spot in the oil & gas sector. Moreover, the stock has soared 238% so far this year. On Tuesday, ERF stock jumped 8.28% to $10.59 with more than 2.86 million shares exchanged hands, above its average volume of 1.79 million shares.   

Callon Petroleum Company (NYSE:CPE) is another stock in the energy sector which has been showing consistent rise. The stock has moved up 78% over the past one quarter. Moreover, the stock has soared 342% so far this year. The stock is trading above 618% from its 52-week low and 11% away from its 52-week high.

Sasol Limited (NYSE:SSL) stock continued to trend higher in Tuesday’s trading session. SSL stock ended higher by 6.45% to $16.84 with more than 425k shares exchanged hands, below its average volume of 475K shares. The stock is trading above 127% from its 52-week low and 15% away from its 52-week high.

Continental Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CLR) stock continued to trade in a range after the recent fall. The stock has moved up about 194% in the past year. The stock is trading above 231% from its 52-week low and just 11% away from its 52-week high.     

Murphy Oil Corporation (NYSE:MUR) stock is showing a very bullish move over the past few trading session as the stock jumped to a new 52-week high. In fact the stock has increased by 35% over the past quarter. The stock is trading above 200% from its 52-week low and 5% away  from its 52-week high.

Allied Energy Corp. (OTCMKTS:AGYP) On a more speculative note, AGYP deserves a look from oil and gas investors, as they recently announced signing a new lease and also struck oil on their leased well sites in Texas. Global energy prices are at 7 year highs. With the need for more domestic energy growing apparent, AGYP and its US based exploration projects may benefit. AGYP recently issued news that they have achieved production on the #1, #2, and #5 wells of the Gilmer Lease in Texas. AGYP announced they are also making progress on the Prometheus lease.
