Roadrunner Transportation Systems (OTC:RRTS) Stock Rallies 17% in a Week: But Why?

Investors are often on the lookout for companies that are described as having comeback stories, and if they are looking for one, Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. (OTC:RRTS) could well be one of them. It is one of the more notable comeback stories in the transportation industry, and yesterday it was in the news following a key announcement.

On October 17, the company showcased its Smart Guarantee LTL Service offering for the first time. In the news release, it was described as a priority service that would ensure the delivery of LTL (less than truckload) freight by the previously agreed-upon delivery date. If not, the freight would ride for free. It was a bold new product announcement from the company and one that may cause considerable buzz within the freight industry. The senior vice president of sales at Roadrunner, Lori Blaney, spoke about the development as well.

She noted that everyone at the company was thrilled at the possibility of offering the customers greater peace of mind through the Smart Guarantee offering. She went on to elaborate that the new version of Roadrunner is committed to providing its clients with the highest level of service, and the guarantee was going to show how confident the company was about its service. She also noted that sometimes it may happen that the client may not be in a position to account for any sort of delay.

In such a situation, the options are either expensive expedited deliveries or air services. However, the client could guarantee the delivery if they use the Smart Guarantee LTL from Roadrunner instead. The introduction of the latest service offering was a continuation of the trend for Roadrunner to offer enhancements to its clients. During the course of the year so far, the company has taken its services to Virginia, Las Vegas, and Denver. Currently, plans are in the works to expand its services to Portland and Kansas City. Additionally, Roadrunner also introduced one-day services from South California to Chicago and the other way around when the freight is dispatched on a Friday.

September 19 was a momentous day for Roadrunner after the company announced that Lori Blaney and its Chief Marketing Officer, Nathalie de Champlain, had been named as the recipients of the Women in Supply Chain Award for 2023. The award had been sponsored by Supply & Demand Chain Executive, which is the sole publication dedicated to the worldwide supply chain. The other sponsor of the award was Food Logistics, the only publication dedicated only to the subject of moving products across the global food supply chain.

The award mentioned above is dedicated to executives and leaders who are involved in the space and who have accomplished significant milestones in the supply chain network of a company. Blaney spoke about the receipt of the award and expressed that she was humbled and honored to be bestowed with it. She also noted that it was an honor to have been awarded the recognition along with distinguished female executives.
